Blogger-ongelmia / Blogger problems
Toivottavasti vuosi on alkanut teilläkin mitä kivoimmissa merkeissä!

For some reason I couldn't access Blogger last week, neither our own blog nor anyone else's. So it's been quite a while since our last updates - sorry about that! Besides the technical problems I haven't had much time to write on our blog. We've been traveling quite a bit in January. First we had our FELM (Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission) annual retreat in Malaysia and soon after returning to Mondulkiri Milo and I had to travel back down to the capital for vaccinations. So quite a bit of traveling but thankfully now we've had good old ordinary days too, something that we've missed during the moving hassle and all the traveling.
Hopefully the year has started in the nicest possible way for you all!

Bon Nou-ael nöy Moundoulkiirii!
Hyvää joulua, Merry Christmas, riik-riei bon nou-ael!
Ensimmäinen joulu uudessa kodissa Sen Monoromissa, Mondulkirin maakunnassa.
He olivat järjestäneet joulunyyttärit, joten saimme tutustua uusiin ihmisiin, syödä eri maiden jouluruokia ja iloita yhdessä joulusta. Unohtumatonta oli istua nuotion äärellä avaran tähtitaivaan alla joululauluja laulellen.
Nyt joulupäivän viettoon,
Ikimuistoista ja lämminhenkistä joulua Sinullekin toivottaen,
Leppäset

Hyvää joulua, Merry Christmas, riik-riei bon nou-ael!
It's our first Christmas in our new home in Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri province. My what an unforgettable Christmas it has been this far! Despite the hecticness of the past days of unpacking and setting up house we managed to make our new home seem like home and to even make it festive for the season. The ham we brought from Phnom Penh and the casseroles we made from Mondulkiri's potatoes and carrots all turned out delicious. We spent the eve at home enjoying Finnish cuisine but later in the evening we joined our Swedish-British friends at their bonfire potluck Christmas party. We got to meet interesting new people, try Christmas food from different parts of the world, and enjoy the spirit of Christmas together. Sitting around the bonfire singing Christmas carols under the star lit night was truly memorable.
Wishing You a Merry and memorable Christmas,
The Leppanens

Lehdenhaku / Fetching the Paper
Tane's in the habit of fetching the two English dailies on his way home from work. He'll either stop at Street 63 when coming from the south or along St. 51 when returning from the north. The saleswomen know him so well that the two papers are already pointed at the car window by the time he pulls over! Last time the papers had all been sold out but the quick thinking saleswomen had an alternative product to offer - Marlboro cigarrettes...! No, it wasn't quite what he was after ;)
