Kompong Saom - Kambodzhan rannikkoprovinssi / Cambodia's coastal province
Last weekend we did two new things for the first time: rented a car (a seriously ancient but OK Toyota Camry) and drove down to the beach at Sihanoukville.
Viime viikonloppuna teimme kaksi uutta asiaa: vuokrasimme auton (ikäloppu mutta toimiva Toyota Camry) ja ajoimme rannalle Sihanoukvilleen.
1) Exciting - prospect of family adventure!
Jänskää - perheseikkalun henkeä!
2) Sweaty - the aircon broke down after 1.5 h and at its worst it was +38C inside the car, and no, opening the windows did not help as the air was hot, if not hotter, outside as well
Hikistä - ilmastointi brakasi 1.5 tunnin ajon jälkeen ja meillä oli pahimmillaan +38C auton sisällä, eikä ikkunoiden avaaminen auttanut laisinkaan sillä tuuli oli yhtä lämmintä ellei kuumempaa ulkona
3) Stressful - all those overtaking Lexuses and "why did that herd of cows want to cross the road" tales to tell later. Oh, not to forget the road-crossing water buffalos...
Stressaavaa - kaikki ne ohittavat Lexus-autot ja tien yli jolkottavat lehmät ja vesipuhvelit...
4) Beautiful - the Cambodian countryside speaks to my soul, I don't know why exactly but it does. I find it really really beautiful.
Kaunista - Kambodzhan maaseutu on mielestäni todella kaunis, en tiedä miksi mutta se vaan hivelee silmiä ja sielua.
5) Relaxing - mission accomplished. Sea, sand, and sun.
Rentouttavaa - tehtävä suoritettu. Meri, hiekka ja aurinko.
6) Veeeeery interesting... Got stopped by cops on the way back: they wanted a dollar for cigarrettes.
Hyyyyviiin kiintoisaa... Matkalla takaisin poliisit pysäyttivät meidät keskelle maantietä ja pyysivät dollaria tupakkaa varten.
7) Afterwards: painful - our total sunblock failed and we all got a bit too toasted. But that's another story.
Jälkipyykki: kipiää! - kaikista vahvin aurinkorasvamme petti ja saimme kaikki (yhdessä päivässä) vähän liikaa aurinkoa. Mutta se onkin jo toinen tarina.
